100mm Rockwool Flexi Insulation Slab 1.2m x 400mm
ROCKWOOL Flexi is a stone wool insulation slab used across a wide range of domestic and commercial construction projects. It goes between studs in partitions and external walls, between joists in floors, and between rafters in roofs — and it stays put without slumping, cutting or fixing. The slab is made from natural volcanic rock spun into stone wool fibres, and it is manufactured with a flexible edge along one side that compresses on installation and then expands to grip the frame tightly from within.
This is the 100mm slab in the 400mm width — one of the most versatile thicknesses in the Flexi range. It is the depth called for in suspended timber ground floor applications, one-hour fire upgrade floor constructions, Approved Document E separating floor systems and Approved Document E internal domestic floor systems. The same slab covers all of those applications, which makes it a practical product to have on site when multiple build-ups are involved.
The slab achieves a thermal conductivity (lambda) of 0.038 W/mK and a Euroclass A1 reaction-to-fire classification — fully non-combustible. It has been tested to BS 476: Part 21 and confirmed to achieve one-hour fire resistance in existing timber floor constructions when installed correctly. In separating floor builds using ROCKWOOL RockFloor resilient layer, 100mm Flexi contributes to achieving Rw 54dB airborne and Lnw 54dB impact performance to Part E Section 3. For internal domestic floors to Part E Section 5, it achieves Rw 40dB.
Benefits
- Suitable for suspended floors, separating floors, internal floors, walls and fire upgrade applications
- Flexible Flexi Edge for a tight friction fit — no cutting to width required
- Will not slump, even if timber studs or joists shrink after installation
- Tested to BS 476: Part 21 — achieves one-hour fire resistance in timber floor upgrades
- Meets Approved Document E acoustic requirements for separating and internal timber floors
- Euroclass A1 non-combustible — the highest possible reaction-to-fire classification
- Stone wool is vapour permeable, reducing the risk of condensation and mould
Good to Know
- Size: 1200 x 400 x 100mm; weight: refer to ROCKWOOL datasheet for pack details
- Thermal conductivity: 0.038 W/mK to BS EN 13162:2012 + A1:2015
- Reaction to fire: Euroclass A1 to EN 13501-1
- Support in floor applications with polypropylene netting or breather membrane, fitted close to underside of floor deck
- Install in accordance with current ROCKWOOL guidelines — visit rockwool.com/uk
- Always refer to the ROCKWOOL Flexi technical datasheet before installation
