70mm Recticel Eurothane GP PIR Insulation Board 2.4m x 1.2m - 2.88m2 per sheet
70mm Recticel Eurothane GP is one of the range's true all-rounders, a thickness specified across pitched roofs, framed walls, floors, ceilings and lofts rather than tied to a single job. It is built from a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) core faced both sides with low-emissivity foil, and is manufactured in the UK at Recticel's Stoke-on-Trent facility.
The 2400mm x 1200mm board covers 2.88m², weighs around 2.6 kg/m² and has a density of roughly 31 kg/m³. A thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK gives a thermal resistance of around 3.15 m²K/W from a single 70mm layer, and a compressive strength of at least 140 kPa means it stands up under screeded and boarded floors.
Where a build-up needs more than a single layer can give, 70mm boards can be doubled, with the joints staggered between layers and the thicker layer set outermost, to work towards higher U-value targets. The low-emissivity foil facings keep moisture vapour resistance high so performance holds over time, and the square edges butt together tightly, with joints taped or filled as specified to keep the insulation layer continuous.
It suits new build and refurbishment across ground floors, framed walls (between studs or as sheathing), pitched roofs (between or over rafters), ceilings and lofts, and is compatible with both wet and electric underfloor heating. In pitched roofs, set the boards long-edge to the rafters in a tightly butted brick-bond pattern, allowing for an air gap where the build-up calls for one. Install to the current Recticel technical guidance, the relevant specification guide and the project specification, cutting cleanly with a sharp knife or fine-toothed saw.
Key Benefits of 70mm Recticel Eurothane GP:
- A popular all-round 70mm thickness for pitched roofs, framed walls, floors, ceilings and lofts.
- 0.022 W/mK thermal conductivity, giving around 3.15 m²K/W of thermal resistance from a single layer.
- Compressive strength of at least 140 kPa for screeded and boarded floor build-ups.
- Can be doubled with staggered joints to reach higher U-value targets.
- UK-manufactured at Recticel's Stoke-on-Trent facility.
- Low-emissivity foil facings on both sides for high moisture vapour resistance and lasting performance.
- Compatible with wet and electric underfloor heating.
- Square edges for tight butt-jointing and reduced thermal bridging.
- Light to handle and easy to cut to size on site.
- Blown with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP) agents, free from CFCs and HCFCs.
- Reaction to fire classified Euroclass F to BS EN 13501-1.
Good to know:
- PIR is moisture resistant but not waterproof. Keep boards dry, off the ground and covered, out of direct sunlight, and set aside any that have got wet.
- One board is 2.4m x 1.2m and covers 2.88m².
- Cuts cleanly with a sharp knife or insulation saw.
- Need a non-standard size? Our bespoke cutting service can help.
- Recticel's pitched roof specification guide covers roof build-ups.
- Recticel's floor specification guide walks through solid and under-screed floor types.
A genuinely versatile 70mm board that turns its hand to most elements of a build and layers up when more is needed, Recticel Eurothane GP keeps specification simple while supporting better energy efficiency and lasting comfort.
