70mm EPS External Wall Insulation 1200mm x 600mm - 0.72m2 per sheet

Sold in packs of 17

70mm EPS External Wall Insulation is a graphite-enhanced expanded polystyrene (EPS) board and the first true field thickness in the range. Rather than upgrading a wall at the margins, 70mm is specified across full elevations to bring a solid masonry or timber-framed building down to a target U-value, finished within a render system.

Each board measures 1200mm x 600mm and covers 0.72m², supplied 17 boards to a pack for 12.24m² of coverage. It carries a declared thermal conductivity of 0.030 W/mK, a PlusTherm 70 grade with 70 kPa compressive strength at 10% deformation, and a calculated thermal resistance of 2.30 m²K/W* at 70mm. The graphite-enhanced core keeps a field-depth board within a workable overall thickness, so the wall gains a full insulating layer without an excessive build-up.

Once the board reaches field depth, the mechanical fixings become part of the specification. A 70mm board needs anchors long enough to pass through the insulation and the adhesive bed and still take a secure embedment in the substrate, with the count set by the system designer and the exposure of the elevation. Getting that fixing schedule right is what holds a continuous 70mm field flat and secure against wind load, so the render plane stays true across the whole wall.

70mm EPS External Wall Insulation is bonded to a clean, sound substrate with EWI adhesive, mechanically anchored, then reinforced with a basecoat and mesh and finished with a weatherproof render, installed to SPI's guidance and the render system provider's specification. It suits solid brickwork, timber frame and steel frame construction on wall applications up to 18m, and is a common field thickness on solid-wall retrofits where a meaningful U-value improvement is the goal. As with all EPS, the finished fire performance and durability are properties of the complete system, not the board alone.

Key Benefits of 70mm EPS External Wall Insulation:

  • 70mm graphite-enhanced EPS board, the first true field thickness in the range.
  • Calculated thermal resistance of 2.30 m²K/W* at 70mm.
  • Declared thermal conductivity of 0.030 W/mK, keeping a field-depth board within a workable thickness.
  • Specified across full elevations to bring solid walls to a target U-value.
  • At field depth, mechanical fixings are sized to the board plus substrate embedment for a secure, continuous layer.
  • PlusTherm 70 grade with 70 kPa compressive strength at 10% deformation.
  • Insulates the external face of the wall, helping to reduce condensation risk.
  • Suitable for solid brickwork, timber frame and steel frame construction.
  • Reaction to fire Euroclass E to BS EN 13501-1, with no loss of thermal performance over time.
  • 100% recyclable with a BRE Green Guide rating A+, and no CFCs, HCFCs or HFCs (zero GWP).

Good to know:

  • Grade: PlusTherm 70: thermal conductivity 0.030 W/mK; compressive strength 70 kPa at 10%.
  • Board size 1200mm x 600mm (0.72m²): thickness 70mm; 17 boards per pack (12.24m²).
  • Manufactured to BS EN 13163:2012+A2:2016: ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.
  • PVC cables must be protected within a suitable conduit to prevent plasticiser migration.
  • Store flat on a firm, level base, protected from sunlight and UV exposure.
  • Always refer to the Stylite EWI datasheet and system provider's guidance before installing.
