60mm Kingspan Kooltherm K103 Floorboard Insulation 2.4m x 1.2m - 14.40m2 Pack
60mm Kingspan Kooltherm K103 Floorboard is the thickness to reach for when a 50mm board falls just short of the floor's thermal target, supplied here as a pack of 5 sheets covering 14.40m². The extra 10mm lifts the board's thermal resistance without a wholesale change to the build-up, which keeps it practical on floors where the target has crept up but depth is still constrained.
The rigid thermoset phenolic core gives a thermal resistance of 3.15 m²K/W at 60mm, working from a thermal conductivity of 0.019 W/mK. Each board measures 2400mm x 1200mm, covers 2.88m², and carries a glass tissue facing on each side bonded in during manufacture, with a compressive strength of 120 kPa to take a screed or slab and normal floor loads.
As the boards get thicker the pack count drops, so a 60mm pack holds five boards rather than the six of the 50mm. That keeps each pack a sensible weight to move and lay, while still covering a room-sized area in one delivery. The square edges butt cleanly across the floor, with cutting kept to the perimeter and any service penetrations.
The board is fitted in beam and dense block ground floors, suspended timber ground floors and solid concrete ground floors, below the screed, below the slab or between the joists to match the construction. It sits over a damp proof membrane, installed to Kingspan's guidance and the project specification, and is not laid directly over timber joists. The pack suits domestic, commercial and industrial floors in new build and refurbishment, and works with underfloor heating systems.
Key Benefits of Kingspan Kooltherm K103:
- Pack of 5 boards covering 14.40m², for a room or compact floor at 60mm depth.
- 60mm rigid thermoset phenolic floorboard, the step up from the common 50mm.
- Thermal resistance (R-value) of 3.15 m²K/W at 60mm.
- Lambda of 0.019 W/mK, among the lowest conductivity figures in rigid floor insulation.
- 120 kPa compressive strength for screed, slab and normal floor loads.
- Adds resistance for a tighter floor target without a major change to the build-up.
- Square-edge boards at 2.88m² each, glass tissue faced on both sides.
- Beam and block, suspended timber and solid concrete floors, below slab or screed.
- Five-board pack stays a workable weight while covering a room-sized area.
- Compatible with underfloor heating, for new build and refurbishment.
Good to know:
- Lay the boards onto a damp proof membrane (minimum 1200 gauge polythene), and keep them off direct contact with subsoil.
- Water vapour resistance aside, the board is not a vapour control layer; where a screed goes on top, cover it with a separate polythene sheet, joints lapped and taped, as the VCL.
- The boards are not fixed over the tops of timber joists; in a suspended floor they sit between the joists on battens, saddle clips or nails.
- At 60mm the board gives 3.15 m²K/W, but the floor's U-value follows from the whole build-up, so calculate it before ordering pack quantities.
For a floor that needs more than the standard 50mm, the five-board 60mm pack adds the depth and covers a room from one order.
